Summer Sun.......

I cannot wait for the Summer. I am sitting in Chick Pea watching the snow fall and I am dreaming of being somewhere warm. This is a photo of Koby from last summer when we took him camping. He would spend hours down by the water throwing rocks in the water and exploring for treasure. Absolutely nothing makes me happier than when he is amused by the simple beautiful things that nature has to offer.
Within these past 5 minutes the snow has stopped and the sun is peaking out........beautiful.
For those who still need to bundle their little ones during these cold days the Lola and Lucas bamboo organic cotton items are oh so cozy. Whenever I see Kims daughter Addie in her kimono sleeper I really can't let her go.........she is so snuggly.
And for those wanting to begin on their children's summer wardrobes we have Sophie Catalou sundresses, skirts and sleeveless tops as well as Wonderboy and Ben Sherman for the boys....beautiful tees, long shorts and zippered long sleeves to cover up at the Beach!

Chick Pea Fashion

We now have Chick Pea for babies and toddlers. Onesies in white and yellow, long sleeves in pink and blue(size 3-6 month to 18-24 month) and baseball style(shown above) for the bigger kids size 2 to 6 years. All with the chocolate brown logo and all priced at $19.95..........oh, and I almost forgot newborn nightgowns which have to be my favorite with matching hats and swaddling blankets.

Wonderboy

Wonderboy has arrived!!!!!!!!!!! Pearl snap short sleeve tops in soft blue with a diamond pattern, as well as solid navy in the same style. Short sleeve tee's in vintage grey with frayed edging, and an adorable soft orange zippered long sleeve with cutout "wonderboy" on the back. Pair with a dark denim signature jean or stay tuned and soon to arrive will be the long shorts in summer white which pair well with any of the tops. Sizing starts at 6 months and goes all the way up to 6 years.

THE COUCH

This is my favorite new addition to Chick Pea. The couch. We have long desired to have a spot where the men in our lives can chill while the ladies enjoy their time in the store. We now have the perfect thing. A couch big enough for 3 grown men(could probably fit 4 if they didn't mind sitting close........) and many magazines suited just for them.........Rolling Stones, Details, and a lovely european womens magazine RED (but the guys love it as the women in the mag. are simply gorgeous..........as well we are stocked with parenting magazines, home decor, etc......)

Uggs have arrived!

Mmmmmm.

Baby uggs in pink and chesnut are so soft i'm having a hard time setting them down. These arrived in the store today and I beetled over to Front Street to delight in the Ugg experience.

Of course I picked up a pair for Addie - after debating heavily between the classic brown and the pink - and i think i'll be back for the brown too.

The classic brown toddler Uggs (sizes 7-13) are almost as cute as my grown up ones (definitely as comfortable) and maybe even better with the extra soft and fluffy insides.

Paired with a little dress I can see Addie tromping around with toasty warm toes. I think these would be great on Sarah's cute little Koby - the perfect match to his twinky little grin and nose scrunch.

Every girl (and boy) deserves a pair! If only I had santa's list...

Grand Opening Celebration

What an amazing day! Thank you to all who came and supported us on our official grand opening. We were extremely touched by the amazing amount of people that came and celebrated "Chick Pea New Beginnings" on Sunday March.9th. Champagne, cupcakes, beautiful new products and all of the people we love. Who could ask for a better day!
If you weren't able to make it please come for a visit. We have new and improved hours........it's official we are now open at 10am. (Anyone who knows Sarah knows she is a very sleepy bear in the mornings and would sleep until noon if allowed) and if 5pm closing doesn't work for you we also do by appointment which is becoming a popular option. (Who doesn't love to have the store all to themselves, what fun.......)
A note to all sexy mamas, don't forget to pick up a new pair of hanky panky sexy panties in store. We have gorgeous new colors in stock for Spring, including butter yellow, lime, candy cotton pink, lavender, periwinkle and my favorite is the denim.(I must say Rustyns favorite too!)

Freshening up for the Spring Forward Grand Opening!

I thought this picture was so cute it had to be shared! One of the many charms of a heritage space are the strange and unusual configurations...and this is Sarah peeking out of a storage room accessible only by ladder!

We've been scrubbing and moving and unpacking boxes and just can't wait to show you the new look! It's a wonderful feeling to see this space come alive.

So don't forget to Spring Forward and move your clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night...and then drop in and visit us for the Grand Opening on Sunday!

Lovely Addie..........

My heart belongs to my 2 boys........My Koby(almost 5) and my very special man Rustyn. But I have to say a little portion now belongs to Kims daughter Addie. Each time I see her I melt a little bit more. (I think I have what they call "baby fever")
Here she is wearing my all time favorite hat. My Koby still wears one which makes them a wonderful purchase. Being that they are a stretchy cotton they vary slightly in size and fit anywhere from 6 months to 5 years. They are handmade in Vancouver by Tomoko Tahara and how lucky, we received 8 new ones this morning just in time for Spring!

Glowology

We are very excited to let you know that Chick Pea now has womens body care products! Our favorite baby care line "Noodle and Boo" (exclusive to Chick Pea in Canada) now has a lovely womens line called "Glowology". A similar scent to the baby line with a touch more sophistication for mamas. You must try the "Heavenly Honey Wash"..............heaven in the shower for me this morning. And even better was to have the Lovely Body Lotion for afterwards. It left my skin feeling like silk!
We will be adding in more and more womens products over the next number of months. Please stay tuned for HANKY PANKY panties which will be arriving this week in scrumptious colors of pinks, aquas, soft yellow, dutch chocolate and if you prefer also in traditional black and white!

These are the only nighties my husband could put on our baby...

I met the Westcoast Baby founder at Royal Columbian Hospital the week I delivered Addie. The little trip down to the lobby after a c-section felt like a 10 mile hike -but it was worth it to hear the story behind this nightie. The kimono style is popular in Asia (I seem to think she said Japan but then i was on some heavy narcotics...!) and she brought the idea back to Vancouver and designed this super stretchy kimono style nighty, with matching soft cocoony blanket, and little hat. So I stocked up!

Logistically it's very smart and husband-help friendlly - you set out the nightie all opened up, put the baby on it, do one arm two arms into the holes, tie her up and you're done! If you're really smart, you put the blanket underneath and then you can wrap them up before you pick up! It was great when we were so panic stricken about supporting her neck - anything that required rolling her over to do it up the back was too much to handle in those first weeks!

So long story short, love love love the Westcoast Baby kimono nighties! And don't they look sweet all hung up? The new grass green color is so sweet for spring and summer!!!
