Dear everyone,
Good bye!
After five wonderful years in Metro Vancouver, it's finally time for Chick Pea to close it's doors, at least for a while. From Commercial and The Drive, to Front Street in New West, we have been so fortunate to have meet inspiring families who have stayed true to the vision of Chick Pea from the beginning.
These moms and dads (you know who you are!) have become friends, we've watched babies grow from soft little bundles into kindergardeners, and we have all cherished the time we've spent with them.
A huge thanks to all of you for your great support. It's because of family that Chick Pea is closing now. I'm due in 2 weeks now with our first little baby boy, and as we all discover, family definitely comes first and I want these precious little people in my life to get all of the time and attention they deserve.
Chick Pea may be closing its doors...and rather quickly...but we're not gone.
There's always Chick Pea in Ottawa you can visit for an East Coast fix (who doesn't love our capital city!?!), and I imagine there will be an interesting way for us to continue bringing you new and wonderful products and ideas in the future.
Please come out an support us to the end - and pick up some great steals! - at our closing sale which starts right now. I deliver this little bundle on September 17th so we're doing our best to close up by September 15th!!!!
See you all soon,
Kim, Trina, Cindy and the Chick Pea Family
xoxo

Well, it is sad, on many accounts! I know you have not owned the store for long and did not have the pleasure of enjoy what chickpea truly was, but hopefully you have learned a few things a long the way. I have to say your blogs have been entertaining and will be missed.
Hi Kim, I too am sorry that the store is closing. In discussions with my "grandmother" friends, we all agreed that it was a "gift mecca" and felt well serviced by your staff, and especially yourself when available. Most certainly your baby family needs you first, and although the running of the store was not totally in your hands for a long time, you most certainly made a positive impact during your ownership. The concept of Chickpea was most definitely one that you marketing and sold well, and kudos to you for taking on a monstrous job and making such a success of it. We will look forward to your next adventure. Keep us posted.
my friend just told me that chickpea is closing!!!! That is too bad, but I wish you well. I live off commercial drive and would frequent the store when it was there. Unfortunately I have not made it out to the new west location recently, as it wasn't quite the same for me. But am sad to hear that it is closing completely. All the best to you Sarah wherever you are, sorry we could make it out that way more often.xo
Hey Kim!
I just want to say a big thank you for the real change you brought to Chick Pea over the last several months. I found the clothing and accessories much more diverse and gift friendly. Knit nights were hit, and the staff were always warm and helpful. A real air of professionalism and polish was brought to the store once you started running it on your own. It seems you truly were able to turn lemons into lemonade.
We'll miss the store tremendously but know you did the best you could with the situation you had.
take care and good luck with the new addition to the family.

wow! it is always sad when a store that you love moves or goes out of business. Just read some of the comments and am not sure what the talk of change is all about. I was lucky enough to live in burnaby and frequently shopped at both locations. I always found the products to be consistant, staff to be lovely, all the lines that i loved where carried at both locations and didn't notice a difference in new west. That said I will miss shopping there.
All the best to everyone. xo
